QATAR CHAPTER
Background
ASIS Qatar Chapter #255 was formally established on 19 December 2006 by ASIS International under the leadership of founding member Mr. Dennis Shepp, CPP, PCI (Chapter Chair, 2007–2008). The chapter remained active under various leaders until 2015, when operations ceased. After years of uncertainty and the absence of a succession plan, the chapter was revitalized in June 2023 by Mr. Ranjiv Abraham, CPP, PCI, PSP (Chapter Chair, 2023–2025), with the support of Mr. Malcolm Smith, CPP (Past President, ASIS International, 2022).
Under Mr. Ranjiv Abraham’s leadership, the chapter earned the Outstanding Revitalized Chapter Award 2024 at GSX 2024 in Orlando, FL, and secured the I.B. Hale Chapter of the Year Award 2025 in New Orleans, LA—becoming the first chapter in the MENA region to receive this prestigious honor. In addition, the chapter won the Professional Development Organization of the Year Award 2025 from Acquisition International, UK.
We are committed to diversity, inclusivity, equity, and transparency, valuing individuals from all backgrounds. The Qatar Chapter serves as a highly specialized and internationally recognized body that offers meaningful opportunities for security professionals—both within the country and beyond—to share knowledge and expertise on the latest global security technologies. Additionally, a growing number of highly qualified and certified security professionals have recently joined the chapter, with more expected to follow.
The presence of this ASIS chapter in Qatar enables interested and experienced professionals to convene, organize major symposiums and events, and exchange knowledge to enhance competencies within the security field.
This revitalized chapter is designed to build upon the work of other MENA chapters, with a strong emphasis on emerging technologies and internationally recognized certifications for security personnel. It will also focus on hosting events and forums featuring VIPs and certified experts. Furthermore, the chapter will develop and deliver accredited educational courses to support the training and advancement of security practitioners.
